| A Short History - In
September 1996, Christina Berry, a Cherokee college student, realized that little information was available about Wes Studi on the internet. She designed a web site, "Wes Studi Cherokee Actor". Shortly thereafter she formed an e-mail discussion list called The StudiGroup. At this time Wes Studi did have an individual who handled his fan club mail but this was not an Official Fan Club. Nor was there any other group for Wes that was internet active. Consequently, Debby Dunn began actively pursuing Wes Studi's agent, Michael Mann, to encourage Wes to associate with The StudiGroup (the internet based discussion group). Michael Mann and Wes Studi said "yes" on April 15, 1999. On that date the Christina Berry web site became the Official Web Site and the E-Mail Discussion List group formed the nucleus of the Official Fan Club, The StudiGroup, with Debby Dunn as president. In April 2002 Debby Dunn resigned as president and she and Wes appointed Carter Ard as the new president. September 2000 marked the first annual gathering of StudiGroup Members with Wes in Tahlequah, Oklahoma for the Cherokee National Holiday. An annual gathering with Wes has become a tradition, in locations such as Santa Fe, Tahlequah, and Nashville. |
